when you get the serial number for a disk drive, can this
be spoofed?

does the OS read this off the drive for you every
time it is called or is it just stored in the registry or
something?

is this the most reliable identification of a particular persons
machine?

do copy protection schemes use this to tie the installation
to a particular machine?

how can you fool them?

are there any other unique fingerprints that can be used?
