Btw, for my silly MiCRoXoR you can replace
mov di, si ; di = 0100h (assumes si = 0100h)
pop si ; si = 0103h
with
pop si ; si = 0103h
mov di, 0100h ; di = 0100h
which is one byte larger, but should work ..
