ACE 1.2b (DOS)

Dear EXEList members,

If you have ACE archiver V1.2b & want to EXECompress
it (300Kb):
-you can't, because of its CRC32 check ("...has been
modified")
-you can't even replace the compressed/encrypted
PMODEW stub with PMWBIND
But do this:
-PMWBIND133 /r /s4gs.exe ACE.EXE (replace extender
with small DOS4GW stub)
-UPX100D --best ACE.EXE
-strip the last four bytes (overlay, CRC32 value)
-ATTRIB +r ACE.EXE (make packed ACE executable
read-only)
And your ACE will work normally. I don't know why ACE
can't check CRC
if the file is read-only. A bug??
But if you do this in DOS622 & run ACE under Win9x,
you must re-attrib ACE.EXE :)

Help! How to bypass/recalculate CRC32 check from:
-SEA Viewer V1.3
-McAfee VirusScan for DOS/PM V4.5.0
so I can EXEcompress it?

Regards,
EddyHawk
